Ginny Prior is the president of the Bay Area Travel Writers, an organization of 200 professional travel journalists. She has worked in media around the country and locally for over 30 years. Recipient of the UPI news/sportscaster of the year award, Ginny was the morning anchor on KSFO Radio in San Francisco for 10 years before beginning her freelance career and focusing on travel/feature writing and broadcasting.

Her travels have taken her snowboarding in Switzerland, kayaking in Iceland and dog-sledding in Lapland – and that’s just the beginning. She’s ridden a bull to the buzzer at the Grand National Rodeo and been the number two “man” in a bobsled on the Olympic course in Utah. Today she’s recovering nicely from hip surgery and acting with a little more restraint when it comes to covering outdoor adventures.

What students are saying about this class:

- The class was an incredible experience, from the guest speakers to class field trips !

- The trips were amazing! I learned so much about what it takes to be a travel writer.

- Ginny Prior was always there for her students and was constantly helping in class – for this subject was all new to us.  She was also engaging as a teacher – we never just sat and did generic stuff.

  1. I’ve enjoyed reading and watching videos from tracyvasquez125. Her video of Captain Vineyard was fabulous. It was so professionally done that it doesn’t seem like a student. Its amazing whats in our own backyard. These articles have made me feel like becoming a tourist and taking a tour of my own city.
